Refugee Project Maastricht is looking for language project coordinator

Refugee Project Maastricht is looking for a language project coordinator of the Project: DUTCH!, the volunteer based language tutorials. It is essential to be a responsible, communicative and intercultural sensitive person, who identifies with the idea of two-way integration. A Dutch level of at least A2 is a plus. The start date would be February/March. To apply please send a CV and an informal short motivation before 30 January, 15.00.

The project aims at giving weekly language tutorials and activities organised by a diverse and inclusionary group of volunteers. They arrange the sessions self-responsibly on an interactive, conversational level. Since its start almost 2 years ago, the team by now counts more than 40 volunteers and approx. 70- 80 involved newcomers a week. It’s truly enjoyable!

The coordinator would commit to:

  • the regular recruitment of volunteers
  • management of the ongoing process
  • internal communication with the teams, single volunteers, task management & delegation off and online
  • representation in the board, and external relations exemplary with UM Language Center (occasionally)
  • representation at events, chairing general team meetings, correspondence with participants
  • evaluation and critical elaboration of developments of your team atmosphere as you are the ‘person of trust’ of the project and insurance of compliance with our intercultural values and principles

Important: In most of these areas you have Aurelia, Frits and Petra (general coordinators of Refugee Project Maastricht) as consultants and support at your side. They are happy to help always and are great to work with.

Also, the coordinator would:

  • Be in touch with newcomers
  • May expand her/his team leading skills and develop a high sensitivity for migration matters and their implications in a volunteer community
  • Shape the project with own input and experience
  • Commit about approx. 5-6 h a week (home office mostly possible)
  • Be part of a great team and have an incredibly enjoyable and enriching new experience
