Registration Maastricht Research Based Learning Programme (Marble) open

Registration for the Marble Programme is now open. Students who have been selected to participate in the programme have received an invitation in a separate message, but all students are encouraged to consider participating. The programme can still accept a small additional number of highly motivated students, provided they have obtained a GPA of at least 7, and are not chased by too many resits.

Maastricht Research-Based Learning, MaRBLe for short, is a UM-wide programme for talented and motivated 3rd-year bachelor students. It brings multidisciplinary scientific research to the bachelor phase. Based on the concept of Research-Based Learning (RBL), MaRBLe aims to introduce Maastricht’s most talented and motivated students to undergraduate research and provides them with the ability to develop and improve their creative and critical thinking skills. The programme is now entering its 9th year with a larger than ever number of projects to choose from.

You can find more information and a brochure on the Student Portal, FASoS-Marble. The brochure describes the ins and outs of the programme and includes an overview of the available projects.

As the coordinator, I wholeheartedly invite you to register by mailing to before Friday 17 November, 16:00, with ‘Marble’ in the subject line. You must start the message by stating your first (1) and second (2) choice. You must also include a short statement why you want to participate in a particular Marble-project. Your motivation will ultimately decide whether you are allowed to participate. I will try to give preference to your first option, but since projects might be over- or undersubscribed, a reshuffle is possible.

Please read the brochure carefully! As you might already know, Marble, unlike the Honours programme, replaces parts of the curriculum. It remains, however, important to enrol for the regular programme as well. If you are admitted to Marble, the Front Office will automatically deregister you from these courses, and enrol you in Marble.

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you still have questions after having read the brochure. I hope to see all of you in one of our projects in the second semester.

Nico Randeraad, FASoS BA Excellence Coordinator
