Hayo Raaphorst, alumnus of the MSc European Studies (Research), has been awarded the Daniel Heinsius Prize for the best MA thesis in political science (by the Dutch and Belgian Political Science Associations). Hayo received the prestigious award for his thesis on: ‘Countering the Realist Narrative on Common Diplomacy Coordination: A Political-Historical Analysis of European Political Cooperation, 1970-1986’.
The prize was awarded at the Politicologenetmaal at Leiden University on 7 June 2018. Dr Giselle Bosse, programme director of the Research Master European Studies, congratulates Hayo Raaphorst and his supervisor Dr Vincent Lagendijk: “This prize is an important international recognition of the quality of the theses delivered by our research master students. It is also strong testimony to the creative potential that can be unleashed if a conscious effort is made to overcome disciplinary and methodological boundaries”.
