On Thursday 26 September, Rianne Letschert, rector of Maastricht University, won the ‘Successful Career Woman of the Year 2019’ award (Dutch: Topvrouw van het Jaar).
She told Dagblad de Limburger that she chose to nominate herself “in order to use that position to be able to make a contribution towards the discussion about women who combine busy jobs with family life.”
As Successful Career Woman of the Year she would like to see more women in high career positions. She already puts her words into action: she intends to introduce a female quota in 2020 for UM faculties where less than 30 per cent of the professors is female.
We hereby warmly congratulate UM’s rector for receiving this outstanding reward!
