SG Lecture: The Coming of Age of a Monetary Union, on 12 February

The Eurozone crisis started to unfold in the European Union from 2009 onwards. Several Eurozone member states were unable to repay or refinance their government debt or to bail out over-indebted banks. Former President of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, attended all the meetings in search of solutions.

SG Lecture by Jeroen Dijsselbloem. Free entrance.

When: Tuesday 12 February, 20.00.
Where: Franz Palm Lecture Hall, Tongersestraat 53.

In this lecture, Jeroen Dijsselbloem will look back on this crisis, starting with the establishment of the Euro in Maastricht in 1992. He will then go into the run-up to the financial crisis, the crisis itself and the measures that were taken to prevent a total breakdown, with Greece leaving the Union. Finally, he will indicate how the future might look – or should look.
