Shared Experience: The Pandemic in Everyday Objects

If you had to tell someone about how you personally experienced working or studying from home during the pandemic by showing them one of your personal possessions, what would you show them?

We are calling all UM students and staff. Studium Generale and the Art and Heritage Commission (KEC) are building a display of everyday objects, telling the story of how you personally and the UM collectively have experienced the pandemic.

We would love to display an object that became significant to you during the COVID-19 crisis. This could be anything, ranging from your favourite coffee to the tickets of the concert you never got to go to, the plant you have managed to kill even while being at home all the time, or that sweet note a loved one wrote you.

How to enter:

  1. Email us a picture or a description of the object you would like to add to the display.
  2. Please include: the measurements AND a short explanation of the story behind the object (100 words or so).
  3. Send your email to pas-expositie-sg@maastrichtuniversity.nl BEFORE 15 July.

You can hand in the object on 13 September, and you’ll receive it back as soon as the exposition ends! Once you have entered, we’ll send you all the details.

The exhibition will be part of the PAS Festival and will take place in the FSE building (Paul-Henri Spaaklaan 1). After the opening in the week of 13 September, the exhibition will run until 28 October. The initiative is organised by Studium Generale, Maastricht University and the Art and Heritage Commission (KEC).
