Spoken Word Maastricht 2017 seeks Word Painters

Young writers, poets, singers and songwriters are invited to sign up for ‘Spoken Word Maastricht 2017’. This event is an initiative of Museum Night Maastricht and will take place at the Dominican Church Maastricht, Dominicanerkerkstraat 1 on Friday 7 April from 23.00-24.00. Read the call for participants on the UM Library Wall.

Museum Night Maastricht is an initiative of Bookshop Dominicanen and Maastricht University Library. This year’s theme is: ‘The future of the book challenge’.

Excited to create and perform your own ideas? We are looking for young writers/poets/singers and songwriters for our second edition of Spoken Word Maastricht. Time to get creative!

After a great acclaim following last year’s Spoken Word event, we give you the opportunity to perform in the beautiful and international setting of the Dominican church following the unique performance of choreographer Monique van Kerkhof.

Monique van Kerkhof will present two amazing performances at this year’s Museumnacht. The talented internationally acclaimed performance artist from Maastricht will be immersing herself into an abstract world depicting the imaginary depths of birth and life; an act which will allow for a spectacular theatrical experience.

As a participant, you will have access to our Special Collections. Get immersed in the theme of ‘future of the book’ and discover the possibilities that ancient literary heritage hold for the future. Unique literature consisting of fascinating historical collections of fairy tales and science fiction work of the era can serve as an inspiration to your performance and will be at your disposal. Make use of these amazing works and let your creativity ignite this theme into a verbal format!

Are you up to the challenge?

Sign up before 9 March and get an inspiring tour in English of the Special Collections of Maastricht University. Limited spots available! Contact the UM Special Collections promoteam for registration and more info: Richard Pales or Vanessa Raju Thomas.
