This fourth Synergy edition offers a condensed afternoon programme with exquisite speakers, panellists and four of our young scientific potentials. They will showcase the paramount importance of SSH research in acquiring perspectives on Future Societies in various ways. Politicians, private enterprises, policy makers and civilians alike all share an eagerness to get some grip on what tomorrow will bring. Our disciplines are increasingly coming into contact with these societal needs and, in collaboration with many other disciplines, are enriching views on Future Societies with knowledge of the past and the present.
