Do you have ideas about your curriculum, the structure of your programme, the content of your courses, or overarching faculty policies that you would like to see implemented?

Several Student Representative positions are open for the academic year 2022/2023:

  • Student Adviser to the Faculty Board:
The Faculty Board consists of the Dean, Associate Deans of Research and Education, and the Managing Director, Secretary, and Student Adviser (as a non-voting member). The Student Adviser to the Faculty Board serves as a point of contact between the Student Representatives and the Faculty Board. All significant topics affecting the faculty are discussed during the sessions. To successfully fulfil this function, it is critical to be diplomatic and communicate the students’ issues in a professional and confidential manner, as well as to clarify the faculty perspective to the SR. Your responsibilities will be to comprehend and articulate the FB’s viewpoint on the annual budget, as well as to present the SR’s proposal. Additionally, in times of crisis (such as the 2020 cyber-attack), the Student Adviser assists the President in managing the issue in collaboration with the Faculty Board. The Faculty Board meets on a biweekly basis.
  • Library Committee:
The Library Committee is in charge of the Faculty’s collection of literature in which a variety of topics are discussed (e.g. subscriptions, Open Access, collection of books). Your duty will be to ensure that all the necessary literature is available and easily accessible to students. Additionally, you will be asked for your input on budgeting, resource allocation, and other logistical issues. The Committee meets a few times during the academic year.
  • Complaints Committee:
The Complaints Committee of FASoS reviews complaints that have been filed by students against Faculty staff members or specific decisions. Your role will be to participate in the examination and assessment of the official complaints. Prior to the meetings between the complaining party and the Complaints Committee, you will be informed about the case and examine the material that has been provided by the complainant to assess the case. It is important that you speak up during the discussion since they are the only student in the room and can provide the faculty staff with a different perspective on the issue discussed.

How to apply?

  • You must be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd year student of BA Arts & Culture, BA European Studies or BA Digital Society
  • You present a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
