For the second time, Maastricht University started their Impact Course: an exclusive course about societal impact of research and knowledge utilisation. The UM wants to create awareness among its researchers about social impact of research and the opportunities of knowledge utilisation through this course, and how to realise more impact with their research.
This year Ties van de Werff, Arjan Schakel and Christian Ernsten are the FASoS participants.
The course starts on Tuesday 9 October. Ties, Arjan and Christian share their expectations with us.
Ties: “I expect to practice writing and speaking about my research for different audiences and for different ends. Without detracting from the quality of the argument. And I hope to discuss the ethics of valorisation, and what societal impact might mean for different disciplines.”
Arjan: “I think that colleagues may expect that I will start talking to them in short and catchy phrases instead of long yet informative exposé’s.”
Christian: “I expect that we will be trained in the ins & outs of presenting research outcomes, ‘knowledge utilisation’ and ‘valorisation’”.
