UM licensed ZOOM accounts now for students too

UM students can use their own UM licensed Zoom account from now on. Please note that these student accounts may be temporary and should be used for study-related activities only.

Download the ZOOM student manual for more information.

Things to know:

  • For all student UM ZOOM accounts, a GDPR agreement has been signed between the UM and ZOOM.
  • If students use any other ZOOM account than their UM account, (particularly the free version of ZOOM), their data is not protected by the UM agreement with ZOOM and could potentially be shared with third parties.
  • ZOOM can be accessed from the tool section of a course or organisation in the Student Portal (Blackboard). It is up to your tutor or course coordinator to use the tool for lectures, tutorials or smaller group collaborations.
  • Students can also sign in on the internet to their UM ZOOM account. However, recommended is to download and use the ZOOM client for laptop or desktop.

Please follow these netiquettes for tutorials and for lectures to get the best out of each session. Furthermore, it is recommended to read the ZOOM article on the FASoS Teaching & Learning blog, in particular ‘The Zoom Rules’ for students.

We wish all students happy zooming and collaborating.
