On Friday 25 October, rector Rianne Letschert will sign the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). With the signing of this declaration, UM commits itself to assess researchers not just on the number of publications and the impact factors of journals in which they have published, but also on the social or scientific impact of their publications.
Related to this declaration is the rise of open science. The number of journals accessible online is increasing. At UM, 52% of articles published are freely accessible. Compared to other countries, the Netherlands performs well when it comes to open science.
