Update on the systems available after the cyberattack

Today several FASoS systems went back online. These include:

  • SOLVER
  • VMF
  • Files4students

However, there is a limitation: These systems, as well as several UM-wide systems that have been available for some time now, including Outlook, IMAR and network folders (I: J: K: L: N: and P: drives) are only available over wired connections and not over Wi-Fi.

Many of you have also been asking about VPN, which will probably not be available for some time to come.

For those of you who want to access systems at home (or work at home in general), there is a work around. You can connect to your UM desktop (VDI). There are two methods:

  • Quick and dirty: Open your browser (ie. Edge, Chrome, Firefox) and surf to athenadesktop.maastrichtuniversity.nl and log in.
  • More stable and better performance: Install the VMWare Horizon Client and use that to access your desktop. Manuals and installation guides for the various operating systems can be found here.
