Maastricht University (UM) offers a UTQ programme to all teaching staff. The faculty UTQ coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the UTQ programme at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS). In order to promote the quality of university education and the professional development of their teaching staff, Dutch research universities agreed to set up the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) in 2008. They also agreed on the characteristics and content of the UTQ qualification and adopted these qualification criteria in their UTQ programmes. Maastricht University (UM) offers a UTQ programme to all teaching staff.

The FASoS UTQ coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the UTQ programme at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS). This programme is derived from jointly agreed UM UTQ guidelines and requirements.

Tasks:

  • Organisation and planning of the faculty’s UTQ programme;
  • Hosting and giving the four mandatory UTQ workshops, in close collaboration with the faculty’s educationalist and other staff members
  • Holding intake meetings with UTQ candidates;
  • Providing feedback on UTQ portfolios;
  • Assessment of UTQ portfolios together with an educational management representative;
  • Holding assessment meetings with the candidates and an educational management representative;
  • Membership of and active involvement in the faculty’s Teaching and Learning Committee;
  • Collaboration with the coordinator of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme;
  • Advising and updating the faculty board and heads of departments;
  • Attending regular meetings with fellow UM UTQ coordinators;
  • Hosting the PBL introduction for new UM employees (once a year).

The coordinator:

  • Has at least 5 years of teaching experience;
  • Has obtained a UTQ certificate;
  • Is interested in teaching and learning in higher education and can provide proof of this (for instance, attendance of EDLAB workshops, teaching and learning conferences, blogs on issues related to teaching and learning);
  • Is aware of and supports the faculty’s and university’s teaching and learning philosophy;
  • Has ample experience teaching in a PBL environment;
  • Has strong organisational and communication skills;
  • Has an excellent command of the English language.

The selected candidate is expected to start in September 2019. The remuneration previewed for this position is 100 solver hours.
