Vacancy: Communications & Outreach Manager at Legal Aid Clinic

The Legal Aid Clinic for Prisoners is looking for a Communications & Outreach Manager to be responsible for social media channels and help promote awareness of the rights of the individuals involved in the criminal justice system.

The Clinic was founded in 2020 and it enjoys the support of the Criminal Law and Criminology Department of the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University.

The aim is to promote awareness of the rights of the individuals involved in the criminal justice system, provide legal aid to the individuals involved in the Dutch criminal justice system for all legal matters related to rehabilitation, and facilitate the professional growth of Law students of Maastricht University by means of real-time legal practice.

  1. Tasks Communications & Outreach Manager:
  • Responsible for all of the social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, website etc.)
  • Finding creative ways and strategies to promote the Clinic on our social media channels
  • Ensuring that the Clinic is active and responsive on the social medias
  • Creating and executing a social media campaign
  • Setting up the marketing strategy for the year (consistency and regularity is key!)
  • Creating promotional material for events and blog posts
  • Keeping the followers up-to-date on our events and activities

Other requirements:

  • Be a student at Maastricht University, but not necessarily of the Law Faculty
  • The workload would be around 3 hours a week
  • Meetings currently take place online. Thus, if you are not in Maastricht at the moment it is not a problem.
  • The person would be responsible solely for the marketing, promotions and outreach part of the Clinic. They would not be involved in the Clinic’s more substantive work (research, preparing events beyond the marketing, etc). The post-holder thus does not need to have knowledge of criminal (procedural) or human rights law.
  • Knowledge in (video-)editing would be a great asset
  • Professionalism, active participation, hands-on mentality and communication skills are expected

The week after 20 March, online interviews with the invited applicants will be held. The selected applicants should expect to start working with the Clinic soon after selection.
