WICKED – The Interfaculty Conference is looking for new team members!

The WICKED project team is organising its Interfaculty Conference, scheduled for 15 April 2023.

They are looking for UM community members to take an active role in planning the content of the conference. Together with an ambitious interdisciplinary team, your responsibility is to create an intervention framework and workshop, which will be addressed by students during our conference.

You can apply until 14 January 2023 by filling out this form.

Have you ever encountered issues linked to your studies or work at UM? Are you interested in solving wicked problems with people from different faculties? Do you want to contribute to a platform where members of the university community can exchange ideas on topics that impact everyone at UM?

Then join WICKED – The Interfaculty Conference, a student-led project which is all about creating an inclusive learning environment by bringing people from all six UM faculties together for a one-day conference on 15 April 2023.

Interdisciplinarity is the future of solving global wicked problems. Bridging disciplines needs to ensure that a diversity of perspectives is included. The core idea of “WICKED – The Interfaculty Conference” is to give a platform to people whose ideas and opinions on university-related problems are often not considered. A diverse group of people from UM and external stakeholders will come together to work in inclusive and interdisciplinary teams during the conference. Four tracks touch upon the topics of Sustainability, Internationalisation, Allyship or Mental Health.

Why are you needed?

WICKED is looking for motivated people (students and staff) who would like to join one of the four Content Teams, each corresponding to one of the conference’s tracks. You will research how Sustainability, Internationalisation, Allyship or Mental Health is being discussed and worked on in Maastricht and at UM. Furthermore, your own experiences can be included in building new perspectives on these issues and shape the content of the conference. You will also contribute to a study guide for the conference participants and establish partnerships with local associations, initiatives and experts that work on your topic.

What is offered?

A variety of experiences ranging from conference planning and gaining new skills to networking and learning more about UM and Maastricht. By opening up applications for Content Team members to all faculties, WICKED wants to create interdisciplinary and interfaculty teams which offer you a unique learning environment. No previous experiences are needed!

If you are interested in supporting the conference in other ways, feel free to contact WICKED via wicked@maastrichtuniversity.nl. If you are a member of an active local association or initiative and want to partner up, reach out! And of course – stay tuned for updates on WICKED!
