WOTRO Science for Global Development has launched the first call for proposals for the new Food & Business Global Challenges Programme. The call invites consortia of research institutes and other organisations (both public and private) in both the Netherlands and Low and Middle-Income Countries to submit joint research proposals that respond to the need for sustainable solutions for global food security.
Why? Food security is high on the international agenda. The food crisis is persistent and rising demand due to population growth and dietary shifts further aggravates problems. There is an urgent and growing need for new knowledge, contributing to new insights, policies and practices to meet food security challenges. The research and innovation Food & Business Global Challenges Programme (GCP) is a response to this need. The programme intends to contribute to sustainable solutions for global food security.
Who can apply? The current call for proposals invites consortia of research institutes and other organisations (both public and private) in both the Netherlands and in LMICs to submit joint research and innovation proposals. The call specifically seeks to involve Dutch for-profit companies in joint research.
What to apply for? The total budget of the call is € 3,600,000 , with a maximum of€ 600,000.00 per research project for a four to five year period.
When? The deadline for submitting preliminary proposals is 9 July 2013 12:00 CET.
