Writers’ Workshop: Experiencing Cultural Freezones, on 6 December

On Wednesday 6 December, 18.30,  Mosaïek Magazine will hold its second event of the series ‘The Importance of Cultural Freezones’. If you are interested in exploring these freezones, join the Writers’ Workshop at the Mandril Culture and Political Centre, Cabergerweg 45. Please read below for more information.

Creativity is glorified, fancy and desirable. At the same time, it is more and more used selectively for economic purposes and consists of precariousness and hard work.

Artists like Tino Buchholz, and Scholars like Richard Florida, link the search for creativity to existential struggles for affordable housing and working space, such as temporary living space, (anti-)squatting and some institutional synthesis: “breeding places”.

The aim of this workshop is to lead the former discussion into practical ways that can contribute to our creative faculties. We will explore how our direct environment and challenges can function as a source of inspiration. More specifically, we will concentrate on the space of cultural freezones as a place, that can not only enforce urban re/development but also as a place in which alternative political, cultural and social perspective whip up.

We are offering several things this time around:

We will engage in different creative writing exercises; in which we will involve our direct surroundings. For this part of the day, we will only offer 15 spots. In order to make sure that the spots are used sensibly, we will put a 5 Euro deposit, which you will get back at the beginning of the event. Priority will be given to our writers. So be fast and scroll down for getting more information on how to register!

We will open the event up to everyone who wants to join us for a documentary screening, drinks and food.

This is how you can be part of this workshop! We only have 15 spots in total. We decided on a registration procedure with a deposit for the workshop, to make sure you guys we can assure the spots and make sensible use of them.
