WUN Research Development Fund (RDF) round 2020 is open

The WUN RDF 2020 round is now open. The WUN RDF provides grants of up to £10,000 to support a research cooperation with colleagues from at least two other WUN member institutions.

Preceding the WUN application procedure we have set up an internal procedure as light as possible to make it easy to submit an idea.

Ideas for a research cooperation with WUN partners for the RDF 2020 round can be submitted internally to han.aarts@maastrichtuniversity.nl until Sunday 20 September. From the ideas submitted two will be selected to be developed into full proposals to be submitted to the WUN, before WUN’s deadline of Friday 23 October.

The WUN Research Development Fund (RDF) aims to foster research collaborations among academic staff from WUN partner universities. The WUN RDF offers senior and junior researchers at Maastricht University the opportunity to develop research initiatives with colleague researchers from other WUN member universities on issues that are relevant and urgent from the perspective of current global developments. As a European university with a global outlook, the UM invites and supports its researchers to submit ideas and take initiatives that shape our university’s global engagement and to work with colleagues in a truly global network.

With the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals being the WUN’s points of reference, and following discussion within and among the Global Challenge Steering Groups, WUN encourages proposals that address sustainable recovery in one or more the following areas:

  • Good health and well-being
  • Quality education
  • Affordable and clean energy
  • Reduced inequalities
  • Sustainable cities and communities
  • Climate action

An additional focus of this year’s RDF round is Sustainable Recovery. Research ideas addressing one or several of the mentioned themes related to the (consequences of the) COVID-19 pandemic are particularly welcome.
